On 29 January at a glittering ceremony in the Guildhall, Judith Chubb-Whittle, was presented with the Council Chairman’s annual Award for Volunteer Leader of the Year by Chairman Cllr Martin Veal.
The award recognized Judith’s contribution to the Parish, which as well as chairing the Parish Council, includes being a governor of our primary school, a prominent member of the Neighbourhood Planning team, and a Trustee of both the of the Pensford, Publow and the Stanton’s Community Trust and the Richard Jones Foundation. Judith also maintains the grounds of Stanton Court Nursing Home and has set aside a plot for the primary school to grow vegetables and flowers during their popular gardening club.
Judith was nominated by John Harvey, Clerk to Stanton Drew Parish Council (see photo). She was presented with a certificate and a Bath Blue Glass vase.
Speaking afterwards, Judith said
“I am really proud to work with like-minded altruistic Parish Councillors and felt very honoured to be nominated for the award. To go on to win it was an amazing feeling. I think you could say ‘updated Facebook status: Feeling happy’. As a Parish Council, we do work hard for our community whether it is sorting-out the little things like potholes to the big things like improving the Parish for the future through the Neighbourhood Plan.
Behind every busy woman is a very accommodating man, and my husband Simon puts up with me spending a considerable amount of time each week ‘doing stuff’, or maybe he just likes the peace and quiet! “
