The PPSCT (100 Club) are proud to have supported and helped fund the Pensford Local History Group (PLHG) on their publication of the book Places of Worship, a history of the religious buildings in Pensford, Publow and Woollard.
In early 2021 PLHG was asked by Andrew Hillman (in his capacity as church warden of All Saints Church) if members could assist in researching the history of All Saints Church in Publow, the group thought that it would be a good opportunity to also look at all other “places of worship” that are or have been in the parish.
The following are included: All Saints Church, Publow, St Thomas a Becket Church, Pensford, Chapel Cottage Pensford, Gospel Hall Pensford, Wesleyan Methodist Chapel Pensford, Tabernacle Pensford, Baptist Chapel Woollard and Bridge Chapel Woollard.
This work has been carried out by local historians and has taken a lot of time and effort to bring to fruition. The book comprises over 400 pages and is packed with detailed information.
Many thanks again to our 100 club members whose support is the primary funding source for PPSCT grants. If you have a project or cause that requires funding or wish to become a member of the 100Club please contact us.
