Welcome to the Pensford Publow and The Stantons Community Trust (PPSCT) website.
Our objects are to further such purposes which may be charitable according to the law of England and Wales as the Trustees see fit by the making of grants for the benefit of the inhabitants of the parishes of Publow with Pensford and Stanton Drew (our Constitution).
The Trust was founded in 2014 and registered on 2nd February 2015. Residents of the villages and others with an interest in our activities are encouraged to become members by the payment of an annual subscription of £10 or by becoming members of our 100 Club. We raise funds from subscriptions, donations, the proceeds of the 100 Club, and from fundraising events.
The Community Trust 100 Club anchors the Trusts fundraising and I continue to be amazed by the level of support from such small villages. The monthly draw meetings are well attended and now play a fun role in our community life, providing a worthwhile reason to meet up and socialize with monthly prizes of £400 and 2 x £100. Simon Whittle and Judith Chubb-Whittle hosted a successful fundraising event in Stanton Drew with guest speaker , SAS soldier Mark Aston, talking on “Realities of War” during the Falklands conflict.
During 2018 we have continued to support some very worthwhile projects and made the highest number of grants yet. In addition there are always a number of projects under active consideration, including agreed support for the final 2 finger posts due to be restored in Pensford in the near future. It is noticeable that we are seeing a quickening pace of activity with more local organisations benefitting.
2018 saw the fiftieth anniversary of the great floods in the Chew Valley of July 1968. It was very uplifting to see our villagers coming together to put on some moving exhibitions of photographs and memorabilia, together with village gatherings, over an ironically beautiful weekend. The Trust was able to play its part by funding (by loan of £1212) the production of an excellent illustrated book. It is very pleasing to report that sales of the book have been such that our funding was repaid in early 2019. This is an example of the Trusts ability to facilitate important projects that would not happen without our financial firepower.
For details of grants paid please see the page titled Our Projects and read some of the press releases.
The Community Trust has made, and will continue to make a significant difference through grants made to a number of our valued community groups, facilities and schools in our home parishes of Publow with Pensford, and Stanton Drew.
Details of most of these awards may be found on our projects page. Trustees are keen to make further awards. Grant Application Forms are available to download and our Grant Making Policy is set out in this document.
We live in a most beautiful part of the country. Our over-riding purpose is to make it an even better place to live – and to have fun whilst doing so. I would really like to encourage more residents to become “Friends” of The Community Trust.
Thank you for looking and I do hope you will decide to join us.
